InsureMy Ltd.

Privacy Policy, Legal Terms & Regulatory Disclosures

Effective Date: April 16, 2026 | Version 3.0

Serving Alberta & Ontario | www.InsureMy.ca

The protection of your personal information is a fundamental obligation of InsureMy Ltd. This document sets out our privacy practices, website terms of use, regulatory disclosures, and commission transparency obligations as required under applicable Canadian federal and provincial law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) as amended, the Alberta Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). This policy also fulfills disclosure requirements applicable to brokers licensed under the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario Act (RIBO Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. R.19) and the Insurance Act (Alberta).

1. RIBO Compliance & Commission Disclosure Statement

1.1 Broker Registration

InsureMy Ltd. is registered as an insurance brokerage in the Province of Ontario under the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario Act and is licensed in the Province of Alberta under the Insurance Act. Our RIBO registration number is available upon request and is displayed at our principal place of business. All brokers acting on behalf of InsureMy Ltd. hold valid individual licences or registrations in the provinces where they transact insurance business.

1.2 Fiduciary & Duty of Care

As a registered insurance broker, InsureMy Ltd. owes a duty of care to our clients. We act as your agent in the placement of insurance and owe you the obligations of a broker, not an agent of any insurer. Our recommendations are based on an assessment of your needs and the products available through the insurers with whom we hold brokerage agreements.

1.3 Compensation & Commission Disclosure

In accordance with RIBO regulations and evolving industry transparency standards, InsureMy Ltd. discloses the following regarding compensation received in connection with the placement of insurance:

(a) Commission-Based Compensation

InsureMy Ltd. receives commissions from insurers for policies placed on your behalf. Commissions are typically calculated as a percentage of the premium you pay and are embedded in the premium—you do not pay an additional fee unless otherwise disclosed. Commission rates vary by insurer and product line. Typical ranges are as follows (these are estimates and may change):

Personal Auto Insurance: 10%–15% of annual premium

Personal Property (Home/Condo/Tenant): 12%–20% of annual premium

Commercial Lines: 10%–20% of annual premium, depending on product complexity

Life & Accident/Sickness: 25%–200% of first-year premium (varies significantly by product type)

Specialty & Excess Lines: Variable, disclosed at time of placement

(b) Contingent & Profit-Sharing Commissions

InsureMy Ltd. may receive contingent commissions (also known as profit-sharing or volume bonuses) from certain insurers based on the overall volume, profitability, or retention of business placed with those insurers. These arrangements are not client-specific and do not affect the premium you are quoted. The existence of such arrangements creates a potential conflict of interest. InsureMy Ltd. manages this conflict by:

Recommending products based on your needs and suitability, not on the level of compensation received;

Disclosing, upon your written request, the specific compensation range received from any insurer for a product placed on your behalf;

Maintaining written conflict-of-interest policies reviewed annually by senior management.

(c) Your Right to Request Specific Disclosure

You have the right at any time to request, in writing, disclosure of the specific compensation InsureMy Ltd. expects to receive in connection with the placement of any insurance product. We will provide this information promptly. Please direct such requests to: [email protected] or in writing to our principal office.

(d) Fee-Based Arrangements

Where InsureMy Ltd. charges a broker fee in addition to or in lieu of commission (e.g., for commercial placements, policy endorsements, or administrative services), such fees will be disclosed to you in advance, itemized on your invoice, and will require your written consent before being charged.

1.4 Insurer Relationships

InsureMy Ltd. holds brokerage agreements with multiple licensed insurers. The availability and pricing of products through those insurers may be influenced by underwriting criteria beyond our control. We do not guarantee placement or continued availability of any particular product. A list of our insurer markets is available upon request.

1.5 Complaints & Regulatory Oversight

If you have a complaint about the service provided by InsureMy Ltd. or any broker acting on our behalf, you may:

Contact our Complaints Officer in writing at [email protected];

File a complaint with the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) at ribo.com (Ontario residents);

5. Online Insurance Transactions

5.1 Quotations & Online Binding

Providing inaccurate or misleading information may result in improper coverage, policy voidance, or denial of a claim.

5.2 Electronic Signature & Legal Effect

By clicking the designated acceptance button during the online purchase process, you are providing your electronic signature and confirming your intention to purchase the insurance product at the quoted premium. This constitutes a legally binding agreement, subject to the conditions set out in this section. Electronic signatures are recognized under applicable provincial electronic commerce legislation in Alberta and Ontario.

5.3 Policy Inception & Validation

The coming into force of any policy purchased online is conditional upon validation of the information you have provided, which is typically completed on the next business day. A licensed broker will contact you by telephone or email to confirm receipt of your application, acceptance by the insurer, and the exact effective date of your coverage. You expressly consent to receiving policy confirmation by telephone.

5.4 Governing Law — Insurance Policies

Insurance policies issued through this website will be interpreted, enforced, and governed by the laws of the province in which the insured risk is located (Alberta or Ontario, as applicable). Courts in the applicable province shall have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from the insurance contract.

5.5 Consequences of Misrepresentation

False or misleading information provided during the application process may result in:

Denial of a claim

Cancellation or voidance of your policy

Potential legal liability

You are obligated under the applicable Insurance Act to disclose all information material to the risk. If you become aware that information provided was inaccurate, contact your broker immediately.

6. Anti-Spam (CASL) Compliance

InsureMy Ltd. complies with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (S.C. 2010, c. 23). We will process unsubscribe requests within ten (10) business days as required by law.

7. Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence

At InsureMy, licensed brokers are accountable for every recommendation you receive — not software. This page explains where we might use artificial intelligence (AI) in our work, what it does and doesn’t do, and how you can always ask for a human review.

7.1 Where We Might Use AI

If AI is used by InsureMy it is to help our brokers work more efficiently in the following areas:

  • Document and data processing — extracting and organizing information from applications, policy documents, and renewal files so our brokers can review it faster.
  • Quote preparation support — pulling together comparative quote information for a broker to review before it’s presented to you.
  • Customer service support — helping our team draft routine correspondence and answer general questions, always reviewed by a person before it’s sent.
  • Marketing and communications — assisting with drafting website, email, and educational content, which our staff reviews before publication.

7.2 What AI Does Not Do

InsureMy does not use AI to make final decisions about your coverage. It does not determine whether you’re approved, set your final price, bind a policy, or make a claims decision on our behalf. Those decisions are made, and are the responsibility of, a licensed InsureMy broker.

7.3 Your Right to Know and to Ask for a Human Review

If AI has materially shaped a recommendation we give you — for example, a coverage suggestion or a quote comparison — we will tell you so at the time. You can ask your broker whether AI was used in preparing anything you’ve received from us, and you can request that a licensed broker personally review any recommendation before you act on it.
